The biomedical industry can be divided into three main categories: pharmaceuticals, biomedical device components, diagnostic instrumentation. Within each of these categories, microelectromechanical and optoelectronic systems are sciences based on optomechatronic engineering. For years, the electronics, optoelectronics, and precision machinery industries have been flourishing in Taiwan. GIBOM’s location allows us to leverage these mature local industries to developing bio-optomechatronic-related technologies. GIBOM can also help these engineering industries integrate with biomedical industry in a way that upgrades local Taiwanese industries. GIBOM will cooperate with various companies to create a specialized research and development network aimed at increasing the value of traditional optomechatronic industry and create new biomedical business opportunities.

We at GIBOM are pioneers in nano/micro-bio-optomechatronic and bio-sensing courses and internships. We hold courses based on optics, mechanics, and electronics, and bring these fields together for biomedical applications. This course arrangement is suitable for the advanced biology and medical students as well as for engineering students who want to specialize in biomedicine.

Based on strong connection between TMU and the three affiliated hospitals, we will assist in the development and design of medical devices and the development of relevant personnel through counseling and upgrading and translating medical services. We will also work with universities in the world to carry out dual system of academic and research cooperation to expand students' international perspective and research energy.
